Located in Walsall, England – the home of the UK’s saddle making industry – Jeremy Rudge Saddlery Ltd. is a manufacturer and fitter of high quality, handmade Dressage, Jumping, Eventing, Endurance and General Purpose saddles.

Our Philosophy

The Jeremy Rudge philosophy is the fit of the tree – the internal frame on which the saddle is built – determines overall saddle fit. The manufacturing process depends on using a tree, which conforms best to the breed and type of horse and the selection of the optimum style and shape of tree.

All horses vary in width, length, girth and ‘true drop’ ie bend in the horse’s back. So, each range of Jeremy Rudge saddles has a different configuration of tree, specially selected for different breeds and shapes of horse.

Get the tree right in terms of type, discipline and fit and you are well on the way to a high quality, high performance saddle.

Selecting the tree
When placed on the horse’s back, the tree should be so designed and constructed that it has close contact over most of its surface area. The angle of the tree head should correspond accurately to the angle of the withers. The length and angle of the rail determines fit along the horse’s back, whilst the width of the ‘twist’ – the narrowest part of the tree – controls fit across the back.

Fitting
Well fitted saddles need the skills, knowledge and expertise of a master saddler combined with those of an experienced fitter. Our fitters are located worldwide. Contact us to find out the nearest to you.

Our saddle fitter Amy Downing has many years’ experience of fitting, checking and maintaning made-to-measure saddles in the UK and Europe.

Manufacture
During manufacture, customers are welcome to visit our factory for precise checking of the flap measurements. Once the new saddle is made, on-site saddle fitting and after sales support are provided to ensure that it is as individual as you and your horse.
